Setting up for cooking can be a time-consuming process requiring the unpacking of tables, cookers, cutlery, plates, and so on. Clean-up can likewise take a significant amount of time—particularly considering you have to pack up and stow all the equipment you just pulled out. The concept of a retractable kitchen is to limit the time and effort required to set up, prepare food, clean up, and pack up equipment.At Talsit Enterprises, our team has spent years developing the ultimate overland kitchen setup, built from our own experiences on the road.

Our approach to designing the retractable kitchens is to minimize the time and complexity of cooking in the field. One principal of our design is to keep the process as self-contained as possible.Thus, each kitchen includes a water tank and a source of cooking gas. The larger kitchens also include drawers for cutlery and storage space for cooking supplies (oils, spices, etc.). Since much of the cooking process is enclosed in the kitchen, stowage is simple and the mess associated with back country travel is eliminated. When the kitchen is closed, it is sealed from the dust and dirt of the trail.

The Dover Overland Kitchen System

The Dover represents our largest retractable kitchen solution, measuring 18"x18"x60" when deployed. This overlanding kitchen comes equipped with a substantial 22" 2-burner Partner Steel overland stove powered by a 5lb propane tank. The overland drawer system includes two storage drawers plus an additional storage box for organizing gear efficiently.

What makes this retractable kitchen special is the complete water system featuring an 8-gallon fresh water tank with an optional filter, plus an in-tank water pump and on-demand faucet. The collapsible swing-over sink maximizes workspace while the slide-out cutting board provides additional prep area. The entire overlanding drawer system is completely sealed from dust and debris—a feature we developed after too many meals seasoned with trail dust.

The Dover includes a 12-volt battery system with a charger and USB charge ports, keeping your devices powered during extended trips. The pull-out storage box provides additional organization, while the system can be configured for right or left-hand use depending on your vehicle setup.

The Minerva Compact Retractable Kitchen

For overlanders who need efficiency in a smaller package, the Minerva measures 18"x18"x30" and focuses on essential functionality. This compact overland kitchen features a 9" single burner Partner Steel overland stove with 5lb propane tank, perfect for solo travelers or couples who prioritize space efficiency.

The Minerva's overland drawer system includes a 5-gallon fresh water tank with an in-tank water pump and an on-demand faucet.
