Retractable Kitchens for Overland Travel
Camping can be a lot of work, particularly when you are exploring each day and make camp at a new destination each night. Setting up for cooking can be a time-consuming process requiring the unpacking of tables, cookers, cutlery, plates, and so on. Clean-up can likewise take a significant amount of time—particularly considering you have to pack up and stow all the equipment you just pulled out. The concept of a retractable kitchen is to limit the time and effort required to set up, prepare food, clean up, and pack up equipment. At Talsit Enterprises, our team has spent years developing the ultimate overland kitchen setup, built from our own experiences on the road.
Our approach to designing the retractable kitchens is to minimize the time and complexity of cooking in the field. One principal of our design is to keep the process as self-contained as possible. Thus, each kitchen includes a water tank and a source of cooking gas. The larger kitchens also include drawers for cutlery and storage space for cooking supplies (oils, spices, etc.). Since much of the cooking process is enclosed in the kitchen, stowage is simple and the mess associated with back country travel is eliminated. When the kitchen is closed, it is sealed from the dust and dirt of the trail.
Retractable Kitchen Models
Overlanding Drawer System Innovation
Our retractable kitchen designs evolved from our own frustration with traditional camp kitchen setups. The drawer system approach means everything has a designated place and folds up completely for travel.
The sealed construction prevents road dust and debris from contaminating your cooking supplies, while the simple pull-out deployment means you can have a fully functional kitchen ready in minutes, not hours. Each overland drawer system includes integrated water supply, power systems, and LP gas for the best overland stove setup.
Why Choose Talsit Retractable Kitchens
Our retractable kitchen systems have undergone real-world testing encountered in the challenging conditions of the deserts of the Southwest. The design is an incremental evolution of lessons learned while actually using the kitchen. The all-aluminum construction provides durability without excessive weight, while the dust-sealed design protects your investment from harsh trail conditions. When the trip is over, the unit slides out and your overlander is once again a daily driver.
Service Areas for Retractable Kitchen Installation
